Upcoming Hero Search

With so much going on this world. I think that we sometimes forget there is a war going on. There are so many soldiers that have left their children, wives, husbands, sisters, mom's . It's so easy not to think about it until you are truly affected by it. When my brother, a national guard left to Kuwait I thought about it and got scared. I thought what if this is the last time I see him. Now he's back home and looking for a position in Arizona; so I'm grateful but I know that many families are not so fortunate.

Last year I thought of having a contest and recognizing the many HERO's that have fought in order to give us freedom. Hero's that gave up their lives in the many war's to give our children a better home & a better future. Hero's that come to this country as immigrants and whom die for this country as citizens.

I would like to recognize the many Military HERO's. I'm currently working on all the logistics and will soon plan on having more details on my website.

My brother, Lucio is the person whom is in his military combat uniform. He's a helicopter mechanic and was deployed to Kuwait. I belong to LULAC.... and now the VP. Larry Luero our fearless leader, former military person, retired engineer spear headed a good cause for our soldiers. He gathered funds several times for Operation Tortilla.... my brother along with some of his buddies enjoyed the tortillas from LULAC .

Manchester Who's Who

Talk about so many cool things happening in a month!..

While this month has been so busy with many blessings, I was trying to explain to my 5 year old why mommy and daddy were going away dressed up. I told her, as she received her Star Student Recognition in school, I too was going to receive my Star Recognition for my jewelry business. Both my little ones were so proud to see mommy sparkle and bling with my Austrian Crystal Designs.

As a child, I had a nack for drawing ; I was known at the Artist. While in high school, I had my artwork published and worked for the college newspaper. Much fun came from drawing and I seriously thought of being a fashion designer since I loved to sew & design my clothes in Jr & high school. This artistic gift has come alive with my designs in my jewelry designs. At my NLBWA Awards, I blinged my cloths with Austrian Swarovski Crystal and my shoes. What fun I had...

I was so busy preparing for another function, I forgot about correspondence I had received a few weeks back from New York. It was from an organization, called the Manchester Who's Who... I thought....hhhmmmmmm..... what is this about.... and why am I receiving it. I emailed some of my friends about it... I checked out their website and said WOW..... Upon completing the sheet that was sent, I sent it back.

I had about a 20 minute interview about my vision, my affiliations and my future. I was invited to be part of the New York Manchester Who's Who. Wow.... I wondered whom had given my name .

The Manchester Who's Who Among Executives and Professional "Honors Edition" of the registry in the US. I'm pretty excited about this.... http://www.manchesterwhoeswho.com

The OC Latino 100

Awarding winning Heaven Sent Jewelry was named the first LATINO 100. This award honors the important contributions made by people and the Latino Community of Orange County. The plan is to honor 100 people each year for the next 5 years. A year book will have the bio's and distributed to schools, colleges and universities in Orange County. This was such a wonderful idea... our youth, our community will have a chance in seeing the many awardees. Our youth will see, Dr., attorney's, entrepreneurs, judges, journalist, community leaders... all contributing to our society. They will see role-models.... that look like them.

Now I can really say "Award Winning Heaven Sent Jewelry", hee...hee...hee.... I was truly amazed at this year recognition. If you go to my website, go to home, go to AWARDS 2006... www.heavensentjewelry.com , you will see what I mean. When I started this journey, my vision was taken by my passion and focus. Vision, passion, vision passion, vision....

I was so inspired by checking out the AlMA Awards tonight!... I'm not one to sit down and check out the awards.... however this one I made time for this program. It inspired and ignited me!...... While watching this program, it brought joy, tears and pride. The ALMA Awards was a piece of art. It was elegant, brought all the diverse talent in the Latino Community and NCLR made it happen http://www.nclr.org/ . We can not move forward blindly with out not knowing our past.

All the excitement, business and family life really took so much out of me. I really felt so drained and exhausted. I can't believe how unmotivated I felt, not staying up and doing work... this is not part of my work ethic. I finally took the time to take care of my plants, repot my palm tree, cut my flowers... start working out again. I justed needed the time off & evaluate life, family and business. It's so easy to get caught up with everything and let it control your life. I've learned that you need to stop and smell the roses. Think about what's important in life... God, family, friends and business. My little one's do bring life to my world. They love that I can turn into a monkey, witch, the tickling or kissy monster. I hear them say...Mama... you chase us...you be monster and we run. They also love as I animate the person when I read to them on a daily basis.

I'm so happy my little girl is now starting to have an interest in speaking Spanish. I made up a cute little Spanish song for both of them that I sing to them before they go to sleep. My little girl tried to show off to her friend that she spoke Spanish...it's broken Spanish but she tried. Her little friend whom is fluent in Spanish said "That's not Spanish". Both my little one's now want to watch the Spanish Novelas (Soaps).... They do run around saying "Se Si Puede"!....

Emerging Latina of the Year !

What an exciting night it was at the 2nd Annual NLBWA Havana Nights Awards. The honoreers were interviewed prior to the event so we meet at this really nice Mexican Restuarnt and interviewed by Patrick Rivera of X Productions. What a talented person he is!...

During my interview, I got emotional and started crying as I was talking about what the award meant to me. This journey of entreprenuership has taught me a great deal about faith, patience and perserving. Nothing happens if we do not take little steps each day and work towards our overall objective. One needs to visualise, believe and take every opportunity that is present. My philsophy about making situations win, win, partnering up with entreprueners & supporthing the community has contributed to my award. I think about what could be, not about what I do not have. I've simply been so overwhelmed & delighted with everything that has been happening this year.

During my first two years in business, I worked so, so,so, so, so hard. My investment of $5,000 dollars towards my business and the long enduring road of little sleep, working endlessly, trying so many different things,, working...and wondering if things would ever get better. At times I was being asked more for donations than I was selling, I wondered with all the support I'm giving back to the community when will I see the support for my business. Times were so tough... it's hard to keep up a smile when you do so much to brand your business and the return in minimal.

Faith is what gave me the strength to continue my quest. I've always prayed every night ...giving thanks for being healthy, for my family & friends. Upon starting my business, I really prayed hard and asked for the courage, strength to endure all the hardships, and patiences. Running a business and caring for two little ones while hubby travels is not an easy task. Many times I thought I would be better off just taking a job but the reality is the investment and the reason why I started my business was to see my children grow, take part in their daily lives, influence them and pursue my business. Every time I was ready to say, I can't deal with all the pressure, I was trully blessed in having a confirmation that gave me the courage to overcome the hurdles. THis has really given me a drive and has made me a strong person. When your growing up with 4 older brothers, you really learn how to me both mentally and pyshically tough. Thanks to my brothers I learned how to excel, overcome.

NLBWA is such an awesome organization. You can feel the positive synergy as you walk into the room. I believe this organization has been so successful is due to the leadership that has the passion. Lorena Maee, Janet Cronick, upcoming President Carolina Camacho, CPA (she's my CPA and a darn good one) and my buddy Tanya Zabuleegue President Elect. This association has really been so instrumental with my business. I'm excited about the upcoming workshop. Thanks to all the talented awesome women that have made things happen.

Thanks to my family, my supportive hubby and my little VP of Operations and my International VP of Marketing. They are the inspiration. Se Si Puede!...:-)

Hollywood VIP Sponsor

Heaven Sent Jewelry was a proud VIP Sponsor for the 4th Annual Indi Producer Gala Awards held on May 12 in Beverly Hills. I designed an Swarovski Austrian Crystal cell phone charm with a fresh water pearl.

Last year during the my first Indi Awards, my conception about Hollywood totally changed. As I sat there during the presentation, I thought I was just going to hear all the thanks, clasps, etc... During the presentation, I heard all these directors, actors... Including Andy Garcia give very real heart warming speeches. These speeches talked about vision, the set backs, about the rough times and how they all helped one another during the time of despair. These speeches brought tears to my eye's because you could feel their pain, you could relate to it and you knew that they overcame their challenges because of their determination, friendship and their dream.

I was amazed and touched by Andy Garcia. Last year he received thee main award and I personally gave him two Austrian Crystal book marks. I thought that Andy would be able to do everything because of his track record & popularity. Their was so much passion, drive and humbleness. It took him 16 years to gain the Hollywood support for his film about the Cuban Revolution. His budget was $9.5 million (by Hollywood standards this is chump change .. they usually are mega-million standards. The entire film was shot in a mere 35 days. (see Latino Leaders April 06 for more details)

Andy truly is such an excellent role model. He is so down to earth, has a heart of gold and vision that has guided him in creating a path of success. I've read various articles about him and totally love hearing about his family values and love for his wife. Now that's what I'm talking about.

This year I was unable to enjoy my evening with fellow designers. I rushed to Beverly Hills after participating in a fundraiser for MOMS at the Disney Hotel. The following morning I had another event at a Tea and Garden event which was so much fun. I had a chance to work with a fellow inspiring entrepreneur whom was affected by the New Orleans floods. Totally inspired by her strength and tenacity .
